We brought home Daisy today. We had to visit with the puppies one last time.

Meeting our new dog

by MADCookie 27. February 2010 22:45

We have been working with Labrador Rescuers to find our next dog. We chose to work with this rescue group because the dogs live with a "foster families" where the dog's attitudes and behaviors are tested.

Today we visited the foster home of Aloha. She had puppies and the previous owner abandoned her and puppies at the Carlsbad shelter. From there, the dog family with 8 puppies were rescued and have been waiting for adoption. We will be taking home the mom Lab. She just weaned her puppies a week ago, and they're going to their new homes, so she's ready for her forever home!

Here are some pictures when we visited her and her puppies.

Elijah and Aloha

The foster mom let us play with the puppies a bit too. Nope, not temping at all to take one of them home! :)

Pine Vally Bible Camp - Outdoor Education

by MADCookie 19. February 2010 00:10

We were blessed to be able to attend a 3 day / 2 night Bible camp in Pine Valley at Pine Valley Bible Camp. They were trying out their new Outdoor Education program that focuses on the needs of homeschool families, and selected some local families to "Beta Test" the program. The camp was worth every single moment, and we would recommend this for your family. You can follow the website to learn more about it, so let's look at just a few of the 170 pictures we took. Would you like to see a camp photo from PVBC?

The sleeping arrangments were perfect. We had two lodge rooms that connected through a "Jack & Jill" bathroom. Each room had a bunk bed and a queen-size bed. Joanna & Rachel were pretty excited to be allowed to have the top bunks!

There was so much to do, and so many wild animals - look at this rarely-seen Pine Valley sloth!

Look at some of the pretty animals the kids were able to meet.

The kids made lots of new friends & enjoyed hanging out.

A red-breasted woodpecker that Rebekah spotted.

The next 3 pix were of a trust exercise up at PVBC's "Base Camp" - a portion of the property up on a hill with rocks for rappelling and platforms for tents.

Here is Rebekah learning how to rappell.

There was fun for the younger girls as well!

We didn't have the opportunity to explore their high ropes course, but doesn't that look like fun?!

Unidentified "scat" discovered during the tracking class

Learning about proper respect & care for the flag

They included the whole family in most of the activities, which we appreciated!

We had a wonderful time & are very grateful to PVBC for allowing us to be a part of the Beta Test!
