Elijah & Rebekah headed downstairs before breakfast, saying that they had a surprise for Joanna, Rachel and me, and that we had to stay upstairs. Lots of noises, whispers and aromas wafted upstairs, piquing our interest, but we stayed put until told that the coast was clear & we could come downstairs. After talking Elijah out of his requirement that we walk down the stairs with our eyes closed (!), we came into the dining room to find this...a full breakfast, prepared by Elijah & Rebekah! What great kids!
They heated up pancakes and made cereal, and did a beautiful job of setting the table, and didn't trash the kitchen in the process (which is more of a blessing to me than they know!). We even had SPECIAL drinks: a Pepsi (in a glass even!) for me, and a Sprite/Root Beer mix for the kids. Breakfast of champions!
Rebekah made a very special "breakfast dessert", composed of melted vanilla & mint chocolate chip ice cream, mini and regular chocolate chips, segments of clementines (a citrus fruit similar to a tangerine) and cherries. What a way to start the day!

Even Rachel got in on the action--they made sure that she had quite the buffet on her highchair tray

Elijah wrote a note for me & tucked it under my plate. It said "We love you a lot, Mama. We hope you enjoy your rest day! Love, E, R, J & RL"
And the best part...when I asked Elijah what led him to do this, he said, "I just wanted to bless you, Mama". Awwwwww..... :)
